5 ways to upgrade your jeans and a nice top

Ask the WhatsApp group what they’re wearing for Friday night out and you’re guaranteed to get a resounding chorus of ‘jeans and a nice top’. Standard.

However, what if you still want the casual ‘I just woke up like this’ party vibes, but also want to feel fresh for party season 2018? Here are some new season top + trouser twists on everyone’s favourite party uniform.

1 The rockstar trousers

The easiest new season party swap? Instead of those tight-fitting skinnies that sit annoyingly right across your muffin top and are constantly needing to be yanked up, try some tailored statement trousers.

Slightly cropped to show a little ankle, high-waisted and sporting the hottest new season prints, from leopard print to tartan, the statement trouser is a lot less high maintenance and a bit more glam. Just add a cami or tee and some ankle boots.

2 The new silhouette

If you aren’t wearing skinny jeans, a strappy top, chunky heeled sandals and ordering a large glass of white wine ('but not Chardonnay'), are you even on a night out?

But now there's a new cooler silhouette in town: the wide leg crop jean and a power knit (or boxy top if it gets a little too hot in there🔥) It’s comfier, chicer and partial to a glass of Chablis. Probably.

3 The occasion suit

The attention-seeking trouser suit is going to be everywhere this party season, making it a natural successor to the jeans-and-a-nice-top party look.

From '70s influences, with double-breasted jackets and wide-leg trousers, to bold prints and extra cosy luxe velvets, the occasion suit is gloriously versatile. Dress it down with a T-shirt and trainers, or take it up a level with heels and statement jewellery.

4 The party pants

These pants are here to get your party started. Your disco needs them. Much more relaxed than stiff denim, much more fun than those black skinnies, the party pants are loose, louche and ready for a good time. Just add a slightly cropped tee and dress up with heels and a faux-fur, or down with trainers and a leather jacket.

5 The tailored co-ord

An elegant Meghan Markle neckline meets 1920s glamour in this versatile velvet co-ord. It's a touch more fancy than your standard Friday night out look, but sometimes you need to go a little extra.

Wear with a metallic shoe, OTT jewellery and a black blazer thrown over your shoulders. Husband sixth in line to the throne optional.
