Skin Type: Combination
Hi guys,
Today, I will be reviewing a newly-launched wash-off mask by Innisfree. It is from a new line and is called Real Peppermint Mask. I have never come across a mask in which the primary ingredient is peppermint. To know more about the product and how it fared for me, read on further.
Price:
900 INR for 100 ml.
Product Description:
Clay-type wash-off pack containing refreshing peppermint ingredients for a soothing effect and making the skin clean.
Ingredients:
The main ingredients of note include bentonite and kaolin clay. It also contains some unique ingredients like orange peel oil and basil oil, to which the strong smell can be attributed. Apart from the usual ingredients used in almost every Innisfree product and the main one being peppermint oil, this one had some new and interesting ones like oils and seed powder.
How To Use:
After a facial wash, spread an adequate amount over a clean and dry face, away from the eyes and mouth. After 5-10 minutes, cleanse using lukewarm water. It can be used partially in the T zone area where pores are wide and there are a lot of blackheads or on the front chest.
My Experience with Innisfree Real Peppermint Mask:
The product is sold in a cardboard box with details printed in environment-friendly soy ink. The mask comes in a pretty brown plastic bottle with a peppermint leaf design over it. The bottle almost looks like an amber glass bottle. It looks very chic on my vanity. The bottle is sturdy as it is made of plastic, and is hence travel friendly. The packaging is quite similar to the regular volcanic wash-off masks.
The mask itself is thick, but quite soft. It has small scrub particles of what I believe are of peppermint leaf. Unfortunately, unlike other Innisfree products, it is not mentioned what these scrub particles are made of. The colour is a pale green. Coming to the scent, it is quite strong, and reminds me of peppermint-infused chocolate. The scent is quite sweet, and once on the face, it strangely smells like “roohafza.” It took me a while to get used to the scent. I do not see people with a sensitive nose liking this product at all.
I went to the Innisfree store to restock my Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask, but ended up buying this peppermint mask. The weather in Delhi is erratic, sometimes it is extremely dry and hot, and at other times, it is extremely humid. It has been taking a toll on my skin, making it dehydrated and oily at the same time. This mask, I thought, would provide relief to my skin, and that’s why I decided to pick it up. The other three variants include – rose, grapefruit and quinoa. This one seemed to best suit my skin best.
On application, the mask instantly calms and soothes my skin. The scent of the mask goes away after a few minutes. On my face, it took about ten minutes to completely dry (almost). The mask is as difficult to remove as the super volcanic variant, and I had to splash my face multiple times with water to get it off completely.
The effects were immediate. My skin was instantly brighter, the excess oil that had enlarged my pores had gone away, and my face looked fresh and hydrated. I was afraid that the oil would end up clogging my pores but it didn’t. Compared to “super volcanic mask,” I feel this one will not last as long. Overall, I like this product for days when my skin feels exhausted, dehydrated and oily.
Pros of Innisfree Real Peppermint Mask:
- Chic packaging.
- Travel friendly.
- Instantly soothes and refreshes.
- Removes excess oil and keeps oil at bay for a few days.
- Does not strip the skin of essential moisture.
- Instant cooling effect.
Cons of Innisfree Real Peppermint Mask:
- Strange smell.
- Difficult to remove.
IMBB Rating:
4/5
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Innisfree Real Peppermint Mask?
The scent takes time getting used to, but other than that, I like the cooling and soothing effect of the mask. I don’t see myself using it as often as the super volcanic one, but it definitely provides respite from the heat and humidity. I would recommend this for people who would like to try out a product with fresh ingredients for the current weather. Do try it at the store to be sure if you like the scent.
